Welcome, and congratulations on your new Jax Electric Dirt Bike. Its 300-watt motor, rugged air-filled tires, twist acceleration throttle, and three selectable speed modes give developing riders a controlled introduction to electric dirt-bike riding. This guide walks you through assembling, charging, checking, and riding your Jax.
Things you need to know
Preparation
- Read the complete user manual and all safety warnings before assembling or riding the dirt bike.
- Adult assembly and adult supervision are required.
- Remove all protective packaging before beginning assembly.
- Prop the dirt bike upright on its kickstand while completing the assembly steps.
- Throughout setup, “right,” “left,” “front,” and “rear” are described as the rider would see them while seated.
- Fully charge the battery for 4 hours before the first ride, even if the charger indicator turns green sooner.
- Confirm the rider is at least 13 years old, weighs at least 44 lb, and does not exceed the 140 lb weight limit.
- Check the rider’s fit. With both feet flat on the ground while straddling the frame, there should be 1–3 inches of clearance between the rider and the top tube.
- Have an ASTM F1492-approved helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and closed-toe, flat shoes ready.

Step-by-step setup
- Attach the front wheel. Remove the axle nuts and outside washers from both sides of the front-wheel axle. Leave the inside spacers in place against the wheel. Position the wheel between the front-fork arms so the axle sits fully in the fork slots and the inside spacers remain between the wheel and fork.
Reinstall the outside washers and axle nuts on both sides. Use the 16 mm end of the included wrench to tighten the nuts securely. Confirm that the wheel is centered, properly seated, and able to rotate.Important:Keep the spacers in their illustrated positions on both sides of the wheel. Incorrect spacer placement can prevent the wheel from sitting properly in the fork.
-
Attach the handlebar.
Use the included 5 mm Allen key to remove the four bolts and top section of the handlebar clamp. Position the center of the handlebar in the lower clamp with the controls facing the rider.
Reposition the top clamp and reinsert all four bolts. Tighten the bolts gradually and evenly in an alternating pattern until the handlebar is secure.Warning:Confirm that the handlebar does not rotate or shift in the clamp. Take care not to pull, pinch, twist, or snag any control wiring.
-
Attach the front plate.
Position the front plate against the front of the handlebar assembly as illustrated in the user manual. Insert the included M5 × 10 mm hex screw through the plate’s mounting point. Use the included Allen keys to hold the mounting hardware and tighten the screw until the plate is secure.
Important:
Check that the plate is centered, securely attached, and does not interfere with the handlebar controls or wiring.
-
Inflate the tires.
Remove the dust cap from one tire valve by turning it counterclockwise. Use a manual air pump and pressure gauge to inflate the tire to 40 PSI. Remove the pump and reinstall the dust cap clockwise. Repeat for the other tire.
Important:
Use only a manual air pump. Never use an air compressor, which can cause the tire tubes to pop. Check tire pressure before every ride.
-
Charge the battery.
Pull open the charging-port cover. Plug the charger into a wall outlet, and then plug the charging cable into the dirt bike’s charging port. The charger indicator illuminates red while charging and changes to green when charging is complete.
Before the first ride, leave the battery charging for a full 4 hours even if the indicator turns green sooner. When charging is complete, remove the cable from the dirt bike, unplug the charger from the wall, and close the charging-port cover.Warning:Use only the charger included with the Jax or a compatible charger obtained directly through Jetson. Using an incorrect charger can result in fire or explosion.
Important:Charge indoors between 32°F and 104°F. Never power on the dirt bike while it is charging, leave it charging overnight, use a damaged charging cable, or attempt to remove or disassemble the battery.
-
Complete a pre-ride safety check.
Confirm that the handbrake engages smoothly and brings the dirt bike to a stop. Check that the foot decks, handlebar clamp, frame, fork, drive system, axle nuts, guards, and covers are secure and undamaged.
Confirm that the handlebar and front wheel turn together, both tires are properly inflated and undamaged, the spokes and rims are in good condition, and the wheels and chain area are free of debris. Check that the chain is correctly positioned and rotates easily.Safety:Do not ride if a component is loose, worn, bent, broken, or missing, or if the steering, wheels, chain, throttle, or brake does not operate correctly. Contact the Jetson Care Team before riding.
-
Power on and prepare to ride.
Put on your helmet and protective gear. Raise the kickstand, sit securely on the seat, and place both feet on the foot decks. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on the dirt bike.
Warning:
Allow only one rider at a time. Never ride near motor vehicles, in roadways, at night, around pedestrians, near steep inclines, steps, swimming pools, or other bodies of water.
-
Select a speed mode.
Use the speed-mode switch to choose the appropriate maximum speed:
- Mode 1: Up to 5 mph
- Mode 2: Up to 7.5 mph
- Mode 3: Up to 14 mph
Helpful tip:New riders should begin in Mode 1 on an open, familiar surface and move to a faster mode only after demonstrating safe control.
-
Start moving and steer.
Slowly rotate the acceleration throttle toward you to engage the motor. The farther you rotate the throttle, the faster the dirt bike will travel. Hold the throttle steady to maintain speed and ease up on it to slow down. Gently rotate the handlebar left or right to turn.
Important:
Always rotate the throttle gradually to avoid a sudden burst of speed. Keep both feet resting securely on the foot decks throughout the ride.
-
Slow down and stop.
Ease up on the acceleration throttle and gently squeeze the left handbrake to slow down. Squeeze more firmly to bring the dirt bike to a complete stop. The left handbrake controls the rear-wheel brake.
Warning:
Apply the brake gradually. Sudden or excessive braking can lock the wheel, cause a loss of control, and result in a fall. The brake may become hot during use, so do not touch it with bare skin.
Understanding the battery indicator
The battery indicator lights on the handlebar show the approximate remaining charge:
- Four green lights: Approximately 76–100% charged
- Three green lights: Approximately 51–75% charged
- Two green lights: Approximately 26–50% charged
- One green light: Less than 25% charged—recharge the battery
The displayed level is an approximation and may vary based on use. When the battery reaches 0%, the dirt bike will power off and must be fully recharged before the next ride.
Recharge the battery promptly after every ride to help maintain its capacity and strength.
Powering off and storing the dirt bike
Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off the dirt bike. Always power it off before walking with it so the motor cannot be engaged accidentally by twisting the throttle. The dirt bike will also power off automatically after 8 minutes without use.
Lower the kickstand and gently tilt the dirt bike onto it. Store the dirt bike indoors in a clean, dry location. Fully charge the battery before extended storage and recharge it once a month while it remains in storage.
Store the dirt bike between 50°F and 95°F. Keep it away from water, moisture, severe vibration, intense impacts, and prolonged exposure to rain or direct sunlight.
Quick troubleshooting
If the dirt bike does not power on: Press and hold the power button for a full 3 seconds. If it still does not power on, recharge the battery completely before trying again.
If the dirt bike powers off while not being used: The dirt bike automatically powers off after 8 minutes without use. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn it back on.
If the dirt bike powers off while riding: The battery may have reached 0%. Stop riding and charge the battery fully before the next ride.
If speed or run time is lower than expected: Check the battery indicator and recharge the battery if needed. Confirm both tires are properly inflated, reduce frequent stopping and starting, and remember that rough terrain, hills, colder temperatures, and carrying weight can reduce speed and run time.
If the battery does not appear to charge: Confirm that the wall outlet works and that the Jax-compatible charger is securely connected. The charger indicator should illuminate green when connected only to the outlet, change to red when connected to the dirt bike and charging, and return to green when charging is complete.
If the front wheel does not rotate properly: Power off the dirt bike. Check that the wheel is fully seated and centered in the fork, the spacers are correctly positioned, the axle nuts are secure, and no debris is blocking the wheel. Do not ride if the wheel remains misaligned or restricted.
If the handlebar moves in the clamp: Power off the dirt bike and tighten the four handlebar-clamp bolts gradually and evenly with the included 5 mm Allen key. Do not ride until the handlebar is secure.
If the chain or brake does not operate properly: Stop riding and power off the dirt bike. Remove only visible debris that can be cleared safely without disassembly. Do not attempt internal repairs or modifications; contact Jetson support for assistance.
