Welcome, and congratulations on your new Dip Light-Up Gravity Board. The Dip is a single-platform electric board that responds to shifts in foot pressure, allowing you to control your speed and direction. This guide walks you through charging, recalibrating, and taking your first ride.
Things you need to know
Preparation
- Read the full user manual and all safety warnings before your first ride.
- Confirm the rider is at least 12 years old, weighs at least 100 lb, and does not exceed the 220 lb weight limit.
- Have an ASTM F1492-approved helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and closed-toe, flat shoes ready.
- Choose a smooth, flat, open riding surface away from motor vehicles, water, debris, steep slopes, bumps, steps, curbs, and uneven terrain.
What comes in the box
- Dip Light-Up Gravity Board
- Charger
Tools required
- None.
Step-by-step setup
- Charge the battery. Open the charging port cover. Plug the charger into a wall outlet, and then plug the charger cord into the board’s charging port. The charger indicator will illuminate red while charging and change to green when the battery is fully charged. A full charge can take about 5.5 hours. When charging is complete, remove the charger cord from the board, unplug the charger from the wall outlet, and close the charging port cover. Warning:
Only use the included charger or a charger obtained directly through Jetson and identified as compatible with the Dip. Using the wrong charger can result in fire or explosion, causing property damage, injury, or death.
Important:Never leave the board charging overnight or for an extended period. Charge only when the ambient temperature is between 32°F (0°C) and 104°F (40°C), and never use a charger with a frayed cord, broken insulation, or other signs of damage.
-
Recalibrate the board straight out of the box.
Power off the board and place it on a flat surface with the standing surface level and parallel to the ground. Press and hold the power button for about 8 seconds. When you hear the musical tune begin, continue holding the button until you hear “calibration complete.” Release the button, and then press and hold it for 3 seconds to turn off the board. Press and hold the power button for 1 second to turn it back on and complete recalibration.
Important:
Do not lean on or apply weight to the board during recalibration. It may take a few attempts to fully reset the internal balance system. Recalibrate again if the board beeps constantly, the status indicator flashes red, or the wheels spin on their own.
-
Power on the board.
Place the board on your riding surface and press and hold the power button for 1 second. A steady blue status indicator means the board is ready.
Warning:
Never power on the board while it is charging. This can damage the battery and electrical system, cause a malfunction, and compromise rider safety.
-
Mount the board.
With the board powered on and positioned on the ground in front of you, place one foot in the center of the nearest footpad. Lift your other foot onto the opposite footpad and quickly shift your weight to the center of your body. Stand straight with a slight bend in your knees.
Safety:
Put on your helmet, protective gear, and closed-toe shoes before mounting.
Warning:Never mount the board while it is powered off. Without power, the internal balance system will not operate, which could result in a fall or injury.
-
Ride and steer.
Apply equal pressure with your toes to the front of both footpads to move forward. Apply equal pressure with your heels to the back of both footpads to move backward. To turn right, apply extra pressure to the front of the left footpad with your left toes. To turn left, apply extra pressure to the front of the right footpad with your right foot.
Warning:
If the board begins beeping continuously while traveling near or at maximum speed, reduce your speed for safer riding.
Important:If the motors become overloaded, the board may beep and one or both sides may enter Protection Mode and power off. Allow the motors to cool for 30–60 minutes before riding again.
-
Stop and dismount.
Ease up on the pressure applied to the front of the footpads and bring your body weight over the center of each footpad. After the board has stopped, step off behind it one foot at a time. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off the board when you have finished riding.
Warning:
Never dismount by stepping off in front of the board.
Using the Bluetooth speaker and lights
Power on the board. Open the Bluetooth settings on your handheld device and look for AXIS in the list of available devices. Select it, and then play music through your preferred app. The music will stream through the board’s built-in speaker, and the lights will automatically flash in sync with the beat.
The board has five lighting patterns. To switch to another pattern, quickly press and release the power button for half a second.
Quick troubleshooting
If the board beeps only while you are riding: Reduce your speed, move to a smooth and flat surface, and confirm the rider does not exceed 220 lb. If the motors are being overworked, power off the board for 30 minutes to let them cool. If the beeping continues, allow another 30 minutes. Power off the board and remove any debris blocking the wheels.
If the board beeps constantly when you are not riding: Recharge the battery. If the beeping continues, recalibrate the board on a flat, level surface.
If the board slows down or tilts while you ride: The battery charge may have dropped below 10%. Stop riding and recharge the board fully before your next ride.
If the board will not power on: Recharge the battery and recalibrate the board. If the charger indicator does not illuminate properly during charging, contact Jetson support for assistance.
If your device will not connect to the Bluetooth speaker: Power off the board and your personal device, turn both back on, and refresh the list of detected Bluetooth devices.
You are ready to ride
That is it—your Dip Light-Up Gravity Board is charged, calibrated, and ready to go. Start slowly on a smooth, open surface while you get comfortable balancing, steering, and stopping. Always wear your helmet and protective gear. Be safe and have fun!
