Things you need to know
Available colors and SKUs
- Sky Blue - JCANDY-BLU
- Pink - JCANDY-PNK
Preparation
- Read the full user manual and all safety warnings before the first ride.
- Adult assembly and supervision are required.
- Confirm the rider is at least 3 years old and weighs no more than 110 lb.
- Only one rider may use the scooter at a time.
- Have the rider wear an ASTM F1492-approved helmet, protective gear, and closed-toe, flat shoes.
- Choose a smooth, flat riding area with adequate daylight, away from motor vehicles, water, sand, gravel, dirt, leaves, steep slopes, steps, swimming pools, sharp bumps, drainage grates, and other hazards.
What comes in the box
- Scooter base with deck, 2 front wheels, rear wheel, and rear foot brake
- Handlebar and stem assembly
- 2-bit tool with Phillips-head screwdriver and 5 mm Allen key
Tool required
- Included 2-bit tool
Step-by-step setup
- Remove the packaging. Remove all protective packaging pieces and confirm that the scooter base, stem assembly, and included tool are present before beginning setup.
- Position the stem. Hold the stem over the stem mount with the handlebar at the top and the stem tab facing the back of the scooter.
-
Attach the stem. Slide the stem down into the stem mount until the stem tab clicks into place underneath the stem-mount opening. Pull upward gently to confirm the stem is securely locked into the scooter base.
Safety: Do not allow the rider to use the scooter unless the stem is fully inserted and securely locked in place. - Open the stem clamp. Use the 5 mm Allen-key tip of the included tool to loosen the stem-clamp knob counterclockwise, then pull open the stem-clamp latch.
- Adjust the handlebar height. Press in the stem pin and raise or lower the handlebar until the pin clicks fully into another stem-pin hole.
-
Secure the handlebar. Close the stem-clamp latch, then tighten the knob clockwise with the included 5 mm Allen key. Check that the handlebar is secure before riding.
Important: The stem pin alone will not keep the stem secure. The clamp must be tightened and the latch fully closed before every ride.Helpful tip: Do not overtighten the clamp knob. If the latch is difficult to open or close, loosen the knob one-half rotation at a time until the latch moves correctly. - Complete the pre-ride checks. Confirm that the stem and handlebar are secure, the clamp latch is fully closed, all three wheels are in good condition and move freely, the rear foot brake works properly, all guards are in place, and no parts are loose, worn, or damaged.
- Practice moving forward. Place one foot on the front of the deck facing forward. Push the other foot against the ground to propel the scooter, repeating as needed to maintain a comfortable speed.
- Practice coasting. Place the kicking foot on the rear of the deck at a slight outward angle for stability while keeping both hands on the handlebar.
-
Practice turning. While moving forward slowly, shift gentle pressure on the handlebar to the left or right. The scooter will lean and veer in the direction of the shift.
Important: This is a lean-to-steer scooter. The handlebar does not rotate and the wheels do not turn like those on a traditional scooter. -
Practice slowing and stopping. Press down gently on the rear foot brake with the rear riding foot to slow down. Apply more pressure gradually to come to a complete stop.
Warning: Do not apply the brake too hard or too suddenly. The brake may become hot during use, so do not touch it with bare skin.
Using the wheel lights and storing the scooter
The lights in all three wheels of the Candy 3-Wheel Kick Scooter are powered by motion:
- Activate the lights: Move the scooter forward. The lights illuminate automatically whenever the wheels are in motion.
- No batteries needed: The wheel lights are motion-activated and do not require replaceable batteries.
- Remove the stem: For storage or transport, press and hold the stem-release button, then pull the stem up and out of the stem mount. An adult should remove and reinstall the stem.
- Reinstall the stem: Position the stem with its tab facing the rear, slide it into the mount until it clicks, and check that it is secure.
- Clean the scooter: Wipe it carefully with a damp cloth, then dry it with a dry cloth. Do not apply water directly to the product.
- Store the scooter: Keep it indoors in a dry place and cover it to protect it from dust. Keep it away from fire, excessive heat, water, and moisture.
Quick troubleshooting
If the stem will not lock into the base: Remove it, confirm the stem tab faces the back of the scooter, and slide the stem fully into the mount until the tab clicks into place underneath the opening.
If the stem-clamp latch will not open or close: The clamp knob may be too tight. Use the included 5 mm Allen key to loosen the knob counterclockwise one-half rotation at a time until the latch operates correctly.
If the handlebar moves during use: Confirm that the stem pin is fully seated in a pin hole, tighten the stem-clamp knob, close the latch fully, and check that the handlebar is secure before riding.
If the wheel lights do not illuminate: Roll the scooter forward and confirm that each wheel rotates freely. The lights only illuminate while the wheels are moving. Stop using the scooter and contact Jetson Support if a wheel does not move correctly or its light remains off during motion.
If the rear brake is loose or does not work properly: Stop riding immediately. Contact Jetson Support or have the brake adjusted by a skilled person using an appropriate tool before the scooter is used again.
