Getting started with my Bolt Pro Electric BikeWhen the road ahead is long and smooth, give yourself a chance to relish the feeling of riding by activating cruise control and handing all the speed maintenance work over to your bike’s motor.
What it is
Cruise control on e-bikes works just as it does in cars: Pick a pace, lock in cruise control, and then let go of the accelerator. The bike will do all the work itself to keep that pace—and all you have to do with your hands is steer.
Whenever you want to take speed management back in your hands (and deactivate cruise control), just engage the brake or the acceleration throttle.
Cruise control is only available on Jetson e-bikes whereby you can ride completely with motor power; our e-bikes that use the motor only for pedal assistance do not offer cruise control. With that in mind, you can find cruise control on the following e-bike models:
How to turn on cruise control
Cruise control functionality differs slightly from model to model. Here’s how it works depending on which one you’ve got:
The Bolt, Bolt Pro, Bolt Up, and Haze – These e-bikes have push-button cruise control functionality. To engage cruise control:
- Start riding at the pace you’d like to lock in.
- Press the cruise control button—located on the right side of the handlebar. Cruise control will activate immediately.
(Keep the button push short and sweet: On the Bolt Up and the Bolt Pro, this same button—when pressed for 4 seconds—powers on and off the headlight.) - Ride on!
The Axle and LX10 – Cruise control on these e-bikes is activated by the twist throttle.
- Bring the bike to the pace you’d like to lock in.
- Hold the speed steady and keep the throttle in the same position for 6 seconds. After that, cruise control will lock in; you’ll be able to tell if you let go of the throttle and your speed doesn’t slack.
(Tip: If cruise control is not activating after 6 seconds, you may need to hold your speed steady for a longer period of time. Try holding the speed steady for 3 – 4 seconds, and then holding the twist throttle in the same position for an additional 10 – 12 seconds.) - Ride on!
